A special message from the big man 🎅🏼

Early Years Information

During this tricky period of enforced school closure I will try to upload as many suggestions as I can to keep your children happy, active and learning.

The timetable above is a brilliant way to structure your days.

In terms of what the children would have been covering next week.

The children in reception are currently working within Phase Three of Letters and Sounds, the sounds they would have been focusing on next week are: ar, ur and ow.

The tricky words within this phase are: he, we, she, me, be, was, you, they, all, are, my & her.

Our nursery children are working within Phase One of Letters and Sounds, an overview of what is covered in this can be found on the Letters and Sounds website.

smileyBreaking News with Mr Mc Making Memorieslaugh

Mr Mc will be uploading a daily phonics session on his YouTube channel, starting on Monday at 11 am, this weeks sounds that he will be covering are, ar, or and ur, which fits in perfectly with what we would have been covering if we had been in school.  This will be a fantastic fun daily resource and the children are already familiar with Mr Mc and his songs.  His YouTube channel can be found at

Oliver Jeffers - A book A Day

Oliver Jeffers, a children's author, is reading one of his books everyday at 6pm, on Instagram Live, they are also available on his website at

Mr T's Phonics

A great website full of phonics videos, including Geraldine Giraffe, a super resource, particularly for anyone unsure of correct pronunciation of phonics sounds. This can be found at

Epic Phonics

Another great website with brilliant phonics videos, songs and games, currently offering one months free membership for parents and teachers, this can be found at

In maths we would have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes.  Reception have been learning number bonds to 10 and further practice would be great, the Number Blocks episode Ten Again, available on CBeebies IPlayer is a great way to learn this.

White Rose Maths

White Rose Maths is the scheme I use alongside Big Maths to teach reception maths at school, they have put together home learning packs to access on their website

They recommend a twenty minute maths session a day, their team will be online every day from Monday 23rd March between 10 and 11 am to share children's questions, examples and stories across any of their social media platforms

Easter Activities

We clearly would have had an Easter Focus, I have attached a pdf document from Muddy Puddle Teachers which has some great outdoor ideas to enhance learning of the Easter Story.  You can also access the Muddy Pupil Teachers website and follow directions there to create your own account.

Outdoor Ideas for the Easter Story

Listed below are a range of websites and links that may prove useful over the coming weeks.  Many educational websites are now offering free access to parents and carers, for a limited time during the Coronavirus crisis.  I will endeavour to add new websites to this list, as and when I become aware of them.
