At Thwaites, we follow the Cumbria Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education (RE). Each class receives at least an hour of RE each week, focusing on one of the six principal religions represented in Britain. During their time at Thwaites, our children will learn how religions and beliefs relate to each other, recognising both similarities and differences between them. They will be encouraged to reflect on the important contribution religion and faith can make to combating discrimination and prejudice. They will also be encouraged to be accepting and tolerant towards people with different beliefs and views to their own.
We aim for our RE Curriculum to provide valuable opportunities to develop our children's knowledge and understanding of religions and beliefs, whilst helping them grow into respectful individuals living in a multi-cultural and diverse world. Our RE Curriculum is organised so we can teach our children about different religious festivals at the relevant time of year.
