Thwaites School is proud to have achieved the Woodland Trust Green Tree Schools - Platinum Award, the highest level of the award.

This achievement recognises the enthusiasm and commitment shown by our pupils and staff in making the natural world an integral part of our curriculum and wider school life.

To achieve the award, children participated in an extensive range of environmental projects and outdoor-learning experiences. They explored our local woodlands, investigated wildlife and habitats, produced nature-inspired artwork and poetry, and learnt about climate change and ways to reduce carbon emissions. Children also celebrated the importance of trees and worked alongside local community groups to care for our environment.

These experiences have enabled pupils to learn about nature first-hand while developing their knowledge, curiosity, creativity and wellbeing. They have also helped children understand their responsibility to respect, protect and care for the world around them.

We are incredibly proud of every pupil and member of staff who embraced the challenges with such enthusiasm. Achieving Platinum is a wonderful accomplishment for our whole school community, but our environmental journey does not end here. We will continue to nurture a love of nature and inspire our children to become the environmental champions of the future.
