Welcome to Thwaites School.

It is a privilege to be the Headteacher of our friendly and ambitious village school. Over recent years, our children, staff, governors and families have worked tremendously hard to strengthen every aspect of school life. We are proud of the progress we have made and remain committed to giving every child an excellent education in a happy, safe and nurturing environment.

As a small school organised into two mixed-age classes, we know our children exceptionally well. Our dedicated staff bring enthusiasm, care and high expectations to every school day, ensuring that each child is supported, challenged and encouraged to succeed. Our children show a genuine love of learning and demonstrate our values through their kindness and resilience as well as their engagement and collaborative skills. 

Our carefully planned curriculum is rooted in our local area while opening children’s eyes to the wider world. Classroom learning is enriched through outdoor experiences, visitors, educational visits, residential opportunities and strong links with Hallthwaites and the wider community. Through these experiences, we aim to develop knowledgeable, confident and compassionate young people who are well-prepared for the next stage of their education and for the world beyond school.
